OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
At Cloudbreak Collective, we partner with nonprofits to offer thoughtful, collaborative consulting. Our approach is grounded in clear, calm, action-oriented fundraising services designed to support nonprofits of all sizes, missions, and locations.
We are proudly women-led — and we believe that matters. Our leadership is rooted in empathy, relationship-building, and a deep commitment to meeting organizations where they are. While we serve nonprofits of all sizes, our roots run deep in rural and island communities. We’re especially passionate about partnering with small and emerging organizations that may lack dedicated fundraising staff or robust resources — organizations with big missions in smaller communities.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
BRITTANY KIRK
Brittany Kirk founded Cloudbreak with a simple belief: that fundraising should be grounded in real-world experience, not just theory. Her journey began in an under-resourced elementary school, supporting families in practical, often deeply personal ways—delivering groceries, translating for parent conferences, and helping students get back to class. It was there she first witnessed how funding decisions made far from the community could dramatically shape what support was possible on the ground.
That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to building systems that work better for the people they’re meant to serve. After earning her MPA at the University of Washington’s Evans School, Brittany found herself drawn to fundraising—particularly grantwriting—as a way to shift power back toward communities. She’s spent her career helping small, mission-driven organizations navigate the tension between funder expectations and community needs with intention, clarity, and care.
As a small-town native now raising her family on an island near Seattle, Brittany understands the heart of rural and close-knit communities—where fundraising is relational, creativity is a necessity, and trust is everything. Cloudbreak exists to support these communities with thoughtful strategy, sustainable tools, and a deep respect for the realities they face.

WE BRING A SENSE OF CALM TO FUNDRAISING
We believe that this work does not always have to be stressful and high-pressure. We work with our clients to create systems that quiet the chaos of deadlines, asks, and task lists to arrive at simple and strategic approaches to meeting revenue targets.
WE HAVE A LISTEN-AND-LEARN WORKSTYLE
Our nonprofit clients are experts in their fields and dedicated champions of their missions. We are thought partners and advisors, operating in service of a community and its goals. We aim to listen first and act second, learning from the people closest to the work and building upon their successes.
WE PRIORITIZE EFFICIENCY + COMPETENCE
We plan our time, direct our projects, and conduct our meetings with the goal of delivering excellent, expert support. We make sure we know your revenue target and that we track towards it. We believe that sometimes done is better than perfect, and other times, a longer, slower process is necessary to arrive at a meaningful, lasting solution.
WE ARE SCRAPPY PROBLEM SOLVERS
We understand what it is like to work in a resource-strapped nonprofit, where everyone is wearing multiple hats. We are entrepreneurial, creative thinkers who are not afraid to build something new with you, try a new strategy, or think outside of traditional fundraising methods. We do this while still drawing on professional experience and academic credentials so we can apply proven practices to your situation.
WE CENTER RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PEOPLE + COMMUNITIES
In fundraising, relationships exist between groups that have had vastly different experiences, perspectives, privileges, and opportunities. In our work, we seek to build bridges between people, increase empathy, reduce bias, and find common ground. We recognize that we play a role in building greater equity for marginalized communities, and that we bring our own biases to that process. We seek to understand and break down those biases, tell authentic asset-based stories, reduce power imbalances, and overcome barriers to opportunity wherever we can.
WE ARE HONEST + STRAIGHTFORWARD, EVEN WHEN THE TRUTH IS DIFFICULT TO HEAR
We lean on both our formal training and on-the-ground work with hundreds of nonprofit organizations to substantiate our advice and inform our recommendations. We share candid observations and direct feedback, and when necessary, we are not afraid to pause, stop, or course correct.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO CAPACITY BUILDING
We seek to improve systems, build skills and knowledge, and increase fundraising capacity with our clients, whether we work with them for three months or three years. Everything we do is designed to ensure that we are adding value so that when a nonprofit organization moves on they have the tools, systems, and skills to proceed successfully without us.
